Associated Press (Federal Wireless) BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, July 10. An attempt was made today to assassinate President De La Plaza. During an Independence Day celebration he was fired at by a crank. The shot went wild and the man who fired it was arrested.

Roosevelt, then president-elect of the United States, survived an assassination attempt while delivering an impromptu speech at night from the back of an open car in Miami, Florida. The would-be assassin, Italian immigrant Giuseppe Zangara, fired five shots with a handgun, injuring four bystanders and mortally wounding Chicago mayor Anton Cermak, who was standing on the running board of the car next to Roosevelt.

On July 13, 2024, Donald Trump, then a former president of the United States and the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party in the 2024 presidential election, survived an assassination attempt while speaking at an open-air campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump was shot and wounded in his upper right ear by 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, who fired eight rounds from an AR-15–style rifle from a nearby building's roof. Crooks also killed an audience member and critically injured two others.
