RIO JANEIRO, January 16 The city of Diamantina, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, has been wiped out by floods, say reports reaching here. More than a thousand houses are said to have been destroyed by the rushing waters, which have risen measurably over their banks. Five thousand persons, it is estimated, are homeless and suffering from lack of food and medical attention.
