More than a dozen U.S. service members were wounded and two E-3 Sentry aircraft were damaged in an Iranian strike on an air base in Saudi Arabia on Friday, according to a U.S. official. Several of the service members have serious injuries.

Communists Hit USS New Jersey and Destroyer Bass; Two Navy Men Wounded

WASHINGTON, May 6 — Two Navy men were killed and 11 were wounded when Communist artillery fire from shore positions in Korea struck the battleship New Jersey and the destroyer Brinkley Bass. The Navy Department said the battleship was struck yesterday and the destroyer was hit Sunday. Both vessels were at anchor in the bay and were bombarding the enemy held port of Wonsan on the Korean east coast. After being hit by the enemy shellfire, both American warships slipped their anchors and quickly sailed out of range.
