Americans Are Backing Madero: Senator Fall Announces That Oil Interests Are Backing the President
EL PASO, Sept. — United States Senator L. B. Fall, who is investigating whether American money helped the recent Mexican revolt, said today he believed the Madero revolution was backed by certain American oil interests. He claimed to know the day and place the money was put up. He claimed that while President Taft did not know the purpose 90,700 American troops were gathered near the Mexican border to put Diaz out of Mexico, this information was communicated to President Diaz and caused him to leave Mexico, Fall said. Mr. Fall left here today for New Mexico.

Ten Tragic Days
The Ten Tragic Days (Spanish: La Decena Trágica) is the name given to the multi-day coup d'état during the Mexican Revolution in Mexico City. It was staged by opponents of Francisco I. Madero, the democratically elected president of Mexico, between 9–19 February 1913. The coup was carried out by general Victoriano Huerta and supporters of the old regime, with support from the United States, especially U.S. ambassador Henry Lane Wilson.

Madero and Pino Suárez were told that they would be transferred to another prison. Taken by car, they were assassinated near the walls of Lecumberri prison. But there is strong evidence that Huerta gave the order and that Wilson knew.
